“Special Spring Events start off the season in Hailey”

Enjoy Idaho Fiddle Championships, Arborfest & Mud Run, Rodeo, Run Sun Valley

There is always something happening in Hailey, and this spring the town will feature some unique, fun events showcasing fiddlers, cowboys & cowgirls, runners, trees and mud.

Fiddlers Inc will host the Fiddlers of Idaho State Championships April 14th and 15th at the Community Campus Performing Arts Theatre, 1050 Fox Acres Road in Hailey.   The Entertainment Night concert is Friday, April 14 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.  The concert will open with the Smith Family from Wendell, ID and feature State, National and Grand Master champion fiddlers Tim Hodson, Monique Ruwe, and John Francis.  Theater doors open at 6:30 pm.   Tickets are $10.00 Adults (18-64); $8.00 Seniors (65 and above); $7.00 Youth (7-17), six and under free.  Tickets can be purchased at the door or from the Wood River Valley Chamber of Commerce/Hailey Visitor Center in Werthheimer Park. Proceeds go to support the contest on Saturday, April 15th.  Watch the state’s novice, intermediate and certified fiddlers, ages 5 to 95 compete in the contest, 9:00am – 8:00pm. There is no admission charge on Saturday.

The City of Hailey is hosting its 6th annual ArborFest & Mud Run on Saturday, May 13 at Hop Porter Park in Hailey to celebrate earth, trees and fun in the mud. The centerpiece Mud Run is a challenging obstacle course event that draws mud-loving extreme sports enthusiasts into the area and event proceeds benefit trees and local businesses. ‘Mudders’ can register in advance or on the day of the event. Family members, friends and those not interested in competing in the Mud Run race challenge are invited to the park for the day to cheer on the participants and enjoy a festival atmosphere with food, beverages, and live music. Activities run all day from 11:00am – 3:00pm, and the 2017 Arbor Day Proclamation will be read at noon.

Rodeos are also part life in Hailey and part of the of the spring event line up, with several taking place at the Hailey Rodeo arena in Werthheimer Park in May. The 5th District High School Rodeo will showcase top student riders on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13.

RunSunValley, June 3-4, is a weekend for those who love to run and have fun. On tap Saturday is the Color Me Fearless 5K which is a benefit for Girls on the Run program, followed by the more challenging Sun Valley Half Marathon on Sunday. The 5K Color Me Fearless run starts at 10:00am in Heagle Park in Hailey and miles will be marked with paint throwing stations.  Participants can run, walk or stroll and get colorized as they wind through the scenic Draper Preserve and Della View neighborhood in Hailey. Following the 5k there will be vendors for healthy living related information, food and bubble ball activities. The Sun Valley Half Marathon is an 11 year spring tradition. Racers and walkers are challenged on a loop style course starting at 9:00am and finishing at the Wood River YMCA in Ketchum. The course follows a portion of the Wood River Valley’s beautiful paved pedestrian path system, allowing for river side running, mountain vistas, and crisp morning air at 6000′ elevation.
