City of Hailey/Blaine County
The city of Hailey, affectionately known as “Idaho’s Hometown in the Mountains”, lies in the midst of the lovely Wood River Valley and in the heart of the majestic Central Idaho Rockies. The community lies at the edge of the Sawtooth and Challis National Forest and is surrounded by wild, public lands. The valley’s heart is the Big Wood River, which flows along the western edge of the city of Hailey.
Hailey is 11 miles south of the resort towns of Ketchum and Sun Valley, and 160 miles east of Boise, the state’s capital. The main route into town is State Highway 75 off U.S. 20 to the south. The nearest interstate freeway is I-84 to the south.
With a population of 8,000, we are the largest community in the Wood River Valley and home to a diverse mix of residents – from families and young singles, to the “actively retired.” Hailey is the Blaine County seat, as well as the Blaine County School District’s seat for its high school, middle school, alternative school and two of it’s five elementary schools. We are also home to a variety of businesses, from small independent businesses to major global corporations. It has a thriving arts, culture and outdoor recreation scene, along with unique and top notch shopping, dining and events. It is a wonderful place to live and a great place to visit.
Blaine County, Idaho is a unique area offering exciting tourist destinations, wilderness adventures, a “business-friendly” environment, and supportive, flourishing communities. The population of Blaine County is 21,560.
