"BCRD opens “Croy Nordic” in the South Valley with the help of the Community."
The Blaine County Recreation District (BCRD) announced Friday, October 5th the opening of a new Nordic trail system located on land west of Hailey bordering Lions Park in Hailey, Idaho.
The new ski area called “Croy Nordic” is made possible because of the unique collaboration and partnership between the BCRD, the City of Hailey, the Croy Canyon Ranch Foundation, the Blaine County School District, the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, private land owners (the Simons family), and the Wood River Land Trust. South Valley Nordic skiing is an integral part of the fabric of active winter life in the Wood River Valley.
Nordic skiers will discover new, diverse terrain out picturesque Croy Canyon on over 7.5 kilometers of trails situated on eight different parcels of land generously provided by private land owners. Access and parking for Croy Nordic begins at Lion’s Park in Hailey. The system will include a sledding hill, the BCRD yurt warming hut, a separate skiing area for dogs, and a rich blend of classic and skating terrain for all skill levels.
Croy Nordic complements the work and efforts of the City of Hailey and the Wood River Land Trust in the enhancement of the Lion’s Park and Draper Perserve areas that form the Hailey Greenway.
Croy Nordic is part of the 160-kilometer BCRD Trails Nordic ski system, one of the nation’s largest. Once ski season begins, users will be asked to purchase a $10 Croy Nordic day pass at the trailhead or purchase a BCRD Trails season pass.
Nordic ski trails are open from mid-November to late April, depending on snowfall. Ski rentals, instruction, guided tours and other activities and services are offered by Blaine County Recreation District, the Sun Valley Nordic Center as well as Galena Lodge.
The BCRD sells nordic ski passes for an endless array of groomed trails for both classic and skate skiers. Passes are available at the following Hailey locations (as well as locations north of us in the nearby towns Ketchum & Sun Valley):
